Clontuskert is a small rural village in SouthEast Galway just four miles from Ballinasloe, Co. Galway in the diocese of Clonfert. It gets its name from 'Cluain Tuaiscirt' which means Northern Meadow. Clontuskert is only a ten minute drive from Ballinasloe town, a thirty minute drive from Athlone and a forty minute drive from Galway city.
Clontuskert's varied landscape of fertile agricultural land, bog lands and the Ballinure River (a tributary to the River Suck) have all influenced the growth of the Clontuskert, Kiltormer and Lawrencetown areas in a variety of ways. Bogs have also supplied the people of the three parishes with fuel.
Activities such as Fishing, Walking, Golf, Rugby, Tennis, Soccer, Equestrian and G.A.A. are very popular in the area and are well catered for. Ballinasloe Golf Course, Ballinasloe Tennis Club and The Ballinasloe Bucceneers RFC Home Ground, are all in Clontuskert and are often used by the locals. Clontuskert also has a GAA pitch, while in Kiltormer, four miles away, there is another GAA pitch, a Sports Complex and a Soccer pitch. The Ballinure River caters anyone interested in fishing.
